The Path I Was Looking For

Like lightning in a cloudless sky I suddenly found myself alone The house once filled with voices and smiles Now only hears the passing wind It wasn't planned, it wasn't wanted But time changed its direction And everything that once seemed important Faded away into the emptiness I can no longer picture tomorrow I don't know what I'm waiting for I'm living suspended in endless moments Without a star to show the way I was searching for a light in the sky While it was shining inside of me I was searching for a road to follow And that road belonged to me I was searching for a voice to guide me Someone who could tell me why Then I realized deep in my heart The path I sought was inside me I was searching for shelter in days gone by When everything seemed in its place But the past is a door forever closed And the future a hidden road Time transforms everything around us Places and people passions and years I was searching for light in others Never knowing it lived in me I wandered without any destination Through endless days and endless questions The more I searched for life's true meaning The more the silence grew in me I was searching for a light in the sky While it was shining inside of me I was searching for a road to follow And that road belonged to me I was searching for a voice to guide me Someone who could tell me why Then I realized deep in my heart The path I sought was inside me I gave some advice to a young man Born from many years of experience And I saw a spark within his eyes And in that spark I saw myself That's the moment everything changed Like sunrise after a long dark night The answer I had chased so far away Had always been alive in me I was searching for a light in the sky While it was shining inside of me I was searching for someone to guide me But I had become that guide Every wound became a lesson Every mistake became a new truth And today I rise from deep within To help others rise with me The path I was looking for was inside me The light I was looking for was me
